About 

The baritone Matias Bocchio was born in La Pampa, Argentinian. After studying composition at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, he completed a master degree in  Contemporary Music Singing with Prof. Frank Wörner at the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart. He expanded his vocal training with Anna Escala, Rebecca Martin, Ulrike Sonntag, Natalie Karl and Bernarda Fink.

Matias Bocchio made his solo operatic debut as Commissioner Kurt Wallander in the opera W - The Truth Beyond by the Swedish composer Fredrik Sixten. The piece was premiered in August 2016 in Tübingen (DE) and Ystad (Sweden) under the direction of the university music director Philipp Amelung and was celebrated as a great success by the public and the press. Matias Bocchio sang further title roles at the Theater Nordhausen with Bonnie and Clyde (UA) by Christian Diemer and at the National Opera Kiev, with Panne, Sale, Sabbia (UA) by Carmine Cella.

Matias Bocchio made his first opera experiences in Argentina, taking part in small roles and as a member of the opera choir of the Teatro del Libertador Córdoba. He also took part in various masterclasses, including with James Taylor, Lauren Newton, Deborah York and Sybilla Rubens.

 

As a student, he was involved in numerous scenic world premieres and music theater pieces from the 20th and 21st centuries in the Studio for Voice Art and New Music Theater under Angelika Luz and in close collaboration with composers as Malte Giesen, Klaus Lang and Hui Hui Cheng. Thanks to his broad and varied repertoire, which ranges from the Renaissance to the present day, he has had many engagements as a concert soloist for classical repertoire of church music as well as contemporary works.

Matias Bocchio performs in various vocal ensembles as well. He has performed with the Gächinger Cantorey of the Stuttgart Bach Academy, the ChorWerk Ruhr, Cantando Admont, the Schola Heidelberg, the Forum Neue Vokalmusik and the Stuttgart Opera Choir under the direction of renowned conductors such as Helmut Rilling, Hans Cristoph Rademann, Walter Nußbaum and Florian Helgath in the renowned Stages such as Deutsche Oper Berlin, Berliner Philarmonie, Festspielhaus Baden Baden and others sung.
